Background and goals of the research project

The aim of the research project was to answer the following questions, among others:

  • How does the variation of the particle size distribution of the clinker component affect the compressive strength?
  • How can fly ash glasses of different composition be characterised more precisely and effectively with regard to pozzolanic reactivity using SEM/EDX characterisation?
  • How strongly does the clinker composition and late available sulphate influence the pozzolanic reaction?
  • How do the mineral additives influence the reaction products and the compressive strength development of cements containing fly ash?

The knowledge gained enables cement manufacturers to use the clinkers and fly ashes available to them in a more targeted manner than before and to increase the performance of fly ash cements.
