Main focus of our services

We can perform inspections for you to obtain information on the overall condition of the structure. In doing so, we identify any damage mechanisms and assist you with the planning of further steps for the maintenance and repair of your structure.

We assist you with the appraisal of damaged and intact areas of concrete structures, with the identification and assessment of damage mechanisms (e.g. crack formation and strength loss) and with damage forecasting (e.g. ASR residual expansion potential):

  • Clarification of the causes of efflorescence and discoloration
  • Estimation of the residual service life of the structure
  • Determination of the repair work required for the structure

Following the completion of structural diagnosis we will also perform BIM-based repair planning for you if required. Benefit from this integrated approach and our proven expertise.

Our methods / Your benefits

Our methods (on the structure):

  • Non-destructive and destructive measurement methods
  • Measurement of the concrete cover as line or area scan using the Profometer 6500AI
  • Taking of samples from the structure, e.g. drill cores for compressive strength testing in accordance with DIN EN 12504-1
  • Non-destructive compressive strength testing (rebound number) using the SilverSchmidt rebound hammer in accordance with DIN EN 12504-2
  • Surface tensile strength in accordance with DIN 1048-2
  • Drill dust sampling, e.g. to determine the chloride content of concrete in accordance with DAfStb, publication 401
  • Analysis of the composition of hardened concrete in accordance with DIN 52170

Our methods (in the laboratory):

  • Tensile adhesion strength in accordance with DAfStb repair directive: Part 3, Annex C
  • Water absorption at atmospheric pressure/at 15 MPa in accordance with DAfStb publication 422
  • Capillary water absorption in accordance with DIN EN 480-5
  • Pore content and pore distribution in concrete, mortar and hardened cement paste using mercury intrusion porosimetry in accordance with DIN 66133
  • Permeability measurement in accordance with DAfStb publication 422
  • 60 °C concrete trials or 40 °C fog chamber on concrete cores (with or without alkali supply) to determine the residual expansion potential

Benefit from our proven comprehensive expertise in structure management – from the careful diagnosis of existing structures to the thorough assessment of the examination results and innovative repair planning.

Other services in which we operate

Material testing

We can offer all standard material tests for the assessment of fresh and hardened concrete properties as well as durability. Our high-performance laboratory is fitted with a wide range of technical equipment and is accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. As a result we are able to provide you with a broad spectrum of laboratory services.

To the service

Durability assessment

As reinforced concrete structures generally have a service life of at least 50 years, durability is one of the most important requirements for concrete construction work. The range of services we offer in the field of durability assessment ensures methodically based, reliable checking and optimisation of the resistance of concretes to a variety of environmental impacts.

Approval inspections and accompaniment of approval procedures

Our approval inspections and accompaniment of approval procedures help you to verify the basis for CE marking (European Technical Assessment, ETA) and the suitability of construction products for specific areas of application (national approvals for concretes, concrete constituents and cements, for example). The range of services we offer encompasses all stages of the approval procedure, from preliminary trials right through to expert reports.

Life cycle assessment and sustainability assessment

Certification systems such as DGNB, LEED or BREEAM are increasingly being used to assess the sustainability of new buildings. The sustainability concept commonly employed is based on a three-pillar model, made up of economy, ecology and social aspects. Life cycle assessment of building materials provides important input data for such sustainability assessments. We develop life cycle assessments for cement and cement-bound building materials as a basis for environmental product declarations (EPD).
