The aim of the research project was to find out why some CEM I-SR and CEM III/B-SR cements do not meet the criteria for high sulfate resistance (SR) under all conditions of the SVA test method, the common accelerated test method in Germany; although these cements show high sulfate resistance in practice.
The research activities continued the project “Low alkali cements with fly ash” (IGF 17249N) with two main targets. Firstly the effects of different characteristics of cements with fly ash on the release of aluminium into the pore solution are investigated. Secondly it was investigated how much each of the examined mechanisms (reduction of the alkali ion concentration, reduction of portlandite availability, release of aluminium into the pore solution, change of the cement stone microstructure) contributes to the prevention of a deleterious ASR.

Ziel des Forschungsvorhabens war es, den Einfluss von Nebenoxiden aus Brennstoffaschen auf die Bildungstemperaturen der Klinkerschmelze und auf die damit verbundene Klinkermineralogie herauszuarbeiten. Ebenso sollten die Auswirkungen der verringerten Prozesstemperatur und der veränderten Eigenschaften der Klinkerschmelze auf die notwendige Bildung von Coatingschichten sowie die Feuerfestkorrosion und damit auf die Haltbarkeit der feuerfesten Zustellung in der Sinterzone des Drehrohrofens aufgeklärt werden.
Um das Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Zementgehaltes mittels µ-RFA (aus IGF 17829 N) zuverlässig im Beton einsetzen zu können, wurde geprüft, inwieweit weitere Randparameter, wie z. B. die Sieblinie und damit ggf. höhere Feinanteile der Gesteinskörnung sowie der w/z-Wert oder erhöhte Luftporengehalte die Bestimmung des Zement- bzw. Bindemittelgehaltes beeinflussen.
