Process Operator Training

VDZ Process Operator Training

Operators are responsible for keeping equipment running a high level of availability, optimising production rates and reducing energy consumption. This training will enable participants to have a better understanding of the process and how to optimise quality and reduce electrical energy as well as fuel consumption. The participants will receive in-depth training in operating specific parts of the plant (e.g. the kiln or mills). They will learn the fundamentals of cement production and gain experience in operating the plant through interactive simulator training sessions.

Topics

During 104 trainings hours the following topics will be addressed:

  • Raw material extraction
    - Main operations and quality assurance in the quarry
  • Material technology
    - Characterisation of raw materials
    - Clinker formation and clinker phases
    - Clinker properties and effects on product qualities
  • Raw material preparation
    - Blending beds and homogenisation silos
    - Raw meal uniformity and quality control
  • Clinker production and burning technology
    - Preheater, calciner, rotary kiln, burner, cooler
    - Clinker burning reactions
    - Alternative fuels and effects on burning process
    - Energy efficiency
  • Raw material and cement grinding
    - Basics of comminution and measurement techniques
    - Grinding systems: ball mill, vertical roller mill, high pressure grinding rolls
    - Separators and optimisation of grinding plants
  • Environment and emissions abatement
    - Emissions: dust, NOX etc.
    - Emission abatement techniques
  • Refractories
  • Simulator training
    - Different operational tasks
