Analysis of primary and alternative fuels

With a thermal power consumption of approx. 90 million gigajoules a year, fuels and their properties have always had particular significance for the German cement industry. Growing environmental requirements and the change from fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, gas to alternative fuels, present manufacturers with increasingly new challenges. At the same time, the material utilization of ash as a cement constituent, however, also results in new opportunities and synergy effects. 

VDZ has been supporting this change over the decades with its Research Institute. Thanks to numerous research plans which have been carried out on firing technology, the use of alternative fuels and the resulting effects on manufacturing processes and product properties, a unique competence centre has formed in VDZ, which our customers can benefit from.
