Installation of Refractory Materials
For good lifetimes of the refractory materials in the clinker production line, a faultless installation is an important prerequisite. Even though the installation is carried out in most companies by external companies, supervision should be done by trained employees. This seminar should help the participants to be able to better evaluate the refractory installation and thereby recognise deficits at an early stage.
Wear of Refractory Materials
The refractory lining of a cement plant is subject to wear, which can be typical to abnormal depending on the process conditions. A premature wear of the refractory lining usually results in an unexpected loss of production, which is associated with high costs. In order to be able to better assess the reasons for the wear that has occurred, the course gives an overview of the types of wear in the cement plant and their interpretation. In addition, details are shown how the wear behaviour of the refractory lining in the cement plant changes as a result of the use of alternative fuels.
Process Technology of Cement Production (In-Class Training)
This In-Class Training consists of two modules: "Grinding Technology and Raw Material Preparation" (Module 1) as well as "Clinker Production and Material Technology" (Module 2). Each module has a duration of one week. The course gives a deep insight into cement production technology, covering topics from quarry operation to cement grinding.
International­ VDZ Congress 2018
Climate protection and digitisation are key challenges for the cement industry: More than 600 representatives from the international cement industry and associated suppliers, as well as from scientific and research institutes around the world, gathered at the International VDZ Congress 2018 in Duesseldorf at the end of September. Steeped in tradition, the VDZ Congress is one of the world's most important events in the industry. The 40 talks held at this year's congress focused on particularly pressing topics such as climate protection and digitisation. The participants also discussed current technical challenges and the general situation with regard to cement production. A further highlight was an evening ceremony at which the winners of the VDZ Industrial Safety Prize 2017 received their awards.
