Results (German): Prevention of a deleterious ASR with Portland-fly ash cement – mechanisms in concrete
The research activities continued the project “Low alkali cements with fly ash” (IGF 17249N) with two main targets. Firstly the effects of different characteristics of cements with fly ash on the release of aluminium into the pore solution are investigated. Secondly it was investigated how much each of the examined mechanisms (reduction of the alkali ion concentration, reduction of portlandite availability, release of aluminium into the pore solution, change of the cement stone microstructure) contributes to the prevention of a deleterious ASR.
Performance of ternary cements with Portland cement clinker, granulated blast furnace slag and calcined clay as the main constituents
The aim of the research project is therefore the detailed investigation of the performance, durability and hydration behaviour of ternary cements with blastfurnace slag and calcined clay as main constituents (KSQ cements).
Effects of pre-hydration on the performance of cements and the influence of different clinker properties
The research project has two objectives. The first is to investigate whether certain chemical / mineralogical properties can make clinker more robust against pre-hydration effects. Secondly, it will be investigated which measures can be taken to counteract possible negative effects, in particular by adjusting the sulphate carrier composition.
