The results of the studies and the knowledge obtained therefrom should contribute to the systematic determination of the optimal mineralogical composition of clinker with regard to the reactivity of ground granulated blastfurnace slag. The amount of the four clinker phases (C3S, C2S, C3A, and C4AF), and modifications of C3A, should be systematically varied in laboratory clinkers, and the interaction of these clinkers with two different types of blastfurnace slag should be studied. Furthermore, the influence of different mineralised clinkers on the early strength development of blastfurnace cements was determined. Moreover, aspects of sulphate optimisation were investigated.
The specifically adjustment of the clinker blast furnace slag interaction should improve the cement performance. As a result, the preconditions for the further development of the economic and ecological advantages which are associated with the use blastfurnace cements should be created.
